What you know about Christmas ?
Let’s talk about that. You might think that you know a lot about Christmas, but that’s not true. Here are 7 of the weirdest christmas facts for you. Have a look :

Eating a few poinsettia leaves will give any little 7 years old nothing more than some nausea and vomiting. In fact, he/she would have to fill his/her 50 lb. frame with around 550 leaves to actually die from poinsettia poisoning. But there’s never been a documented case of death by poinsettiya poisoning. Almost all cases of poinsettiya ingestion result in no effect at all. Nevertheless, belief in the poisonous poinsettiya is widespread and persistent .

If people knew the real meaning of the word ‘mistletoe’, they might be less inclined to kiss under it, because the original Germanic word literally means ‘ dung on a twig’- not quite so romantic now, is it? . A bird called Mistle thrush eats berries and leaves droppings which eventually grows into a new mistletoe plant . Mistletoe was a symbol of love and friendship in Norse mythology, which is where the practise of kissing under mistletoe comes from.

 

3.

The best selling music single of all time is actually a christmas song. Having sold over 50 million copies, Bing crosby’s “white christmas” holds the title for the best selling music of all time. This Christmas classic starring Bing is a romantic tale that takes place in a Vermont lodge- where it is almost always a “white christmas.”£

Santa’s reindeers underwent some rebranding over the years, and two of them – Donner and Blitzen – originally went by the names Dunder and Blixem. The names were taken from Dutch words that mean thunder and lightening . Dunder and Blixem is thunder and lightening.

 

5.

Scientists have conformed that santa has to travel at 99.999999% the speed of light in order to visit the roughly 800 million houses on Earth in the 34 hours of darkness.

 

6.

Data analyzed from Facebook wall posts indicates that two weeks before christmas is one of the two most popular times of the year for BREAKING UP. Christmas day is the least common day to call time on a relationship but two weeks before the big day is one of the most popular.

 

7.

The oldest fake christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made out of dyed goose feathers; but in the 1930s, an enterprising company began making artificial christmas trees out of toilet brushes . British based Addis Housewares Company created the first artificial christmas tree made from brush bristles. The trees were made from the same animal-hair bristles used in the brushes, save they were dyed green.
