5 Not-So-Known Places To Satiate Your Hunger In Delhi

For foodies, Delhi-NCR is a very close imitation of paradise on earth. The entire region is teeming with restaurants catering to every taste bud and every price range. From multinational chains like KFC, Subway, etc to our own home-grown BTW and Keventer’s, it’s easy to get confused and miss out on some of the most amazing food this city has to offer.

However, after a year of eating around in the city, we have come up with a list of places with the most delectable as well as value-for-money food that EVERYONE in the city MUST TRY. So, the next time you’re confused about where to eat, just check this list, and thank us for a mind-blowing foodie adventure!

1.  Ama Thakali

5 HIDDEN GEMS IN DELHI YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT

Where: House 40, First Floor, Above Ama Restaurant, New Aruna Nagar, Majnu ka Tila, New Delhi (Nearest Metro station- Vidhan Sabha)

Honest to God, this is one of THE BEST places I was introduced to in 2016. Specializing in Nepalese cuisine, the unlimited rice thali (variants include vegetable, egg, chicken and mutton) is a wonderful juxtaposition of authentic flavours that will transport you to the loving arms of the mountains themselves.

And I’m not even exaggerating.

Must try: The thalis, of course!

2.  Say Cheese!

5 HIDDEN GEMS IN DELHI YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT

Where: Shop 16, Ground Floor, Eros Metro Mall, Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi (Nearest Metro station- Dwarka Sector 14)

Quality, food at prices so reasonable that your appetite will increase even more. What more could you ask for? The comforting smell of cheese? Pastas that melt in your mouth? Exciting combo meals that will leave you happy and satisfied? Or sandwiches that could give any fine dining pièce de résistance a run for its money? This quiet little shack has it all.

Say cheese! (Sorry guys, I had to do it.)

Must try: Barbecue chicken pizza, penne pasta in white sauce, and chicken tikka footlong

3.  Anand Restaurant

5 HIDDEN GEMS IN DELHI YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT

Where: 15/96, Scindia House, Connaught Place, New Delhi

Tucked into a quiet lane off Janpath, this legendary place has been serving some of the most delicious North Indian fare in Connaught Place for generations. Unpretentious, but food so spicy and flavoursome it’ll knock your socks right off. And you’ll probably want to change into something comfortable after you’re done eating, or rather, stuffing your face with its exquisitely cheap kababs and biryanis.

Anand translates to joy in Hindi. Coincidence? I think not.

Must try: Chicken biryani, seekh kabab, and chicken curry.

 4.  Waffle Hut

5 HIDDEN GEMS IN DELHI YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT

Where: UB-29, Jawahar Nagar, Kamla Nagar, New Delhi

An establishment dedicated exclusively to waffles is every dessert lover’s dream come true. sobs happily. The food is prepared right in front of you by some of the most charming and courteous staff I have ever come across. The wide range of waffles will win you over, and so will their cozy little seating space. An added bonus for all you vegetarians out there: all their waffles are 100% eggless!

Ps. The masala coke is a must.

still sobbing happily

Must try: Strawberry swirl waffle, Nutella waffle, and chocochip blueberry waffle.

5.  Burger Point

hangouts

Where: 108, Part 2, Sector 15, Gurgaon

Juicy patties, fresh buns and sauces that make your eyes pop with their awesomeness. Sigh. Some of the best burgers I’ve ever had, at prices that could legitimately make a broke college student like me cry with tears of joy. Their consistency is pretty laudable, considering how establishments tend to ruin their burgers from time to time. All in all, totally worth the ride to Gurgaon!

Good burgers = happiness. True story.

Must try: Maharaja chicken burger, fish burger, and veg crisp-n-crunchy burger.

Arushi Bhaskar

Desi Hermione Granger with bits of Luna Lovegood. I study literature, eat good food and listen to brilliant music. Occasionally, I write. And I always have fun, with plenty of stories to share!
