Most Actors, Musicians and Personalities are forced to work hard, struggle for recognition and often survive through a virtually penniless existence. Some celebs will tell you they ate macaroni and cheese for months at a time in their tiny apartments while some didn’t have an apartment at all, living homeless until they caught their big break. From world famous actors being homeless on the streets to the founder of the iPhone not being able to afford food! We take a look at 10 homeless people who went on to become super rich and famous!

 

10. JIM MORRISON

There are so many stories and rumours about the legendary front man of the doors that we can’t be sure where the truth begins and ends. However, somethings about the biggest poet and rockstar in music history are undoubtedly true such as him being homeless when he was still struggling with his music career. Most of his fans will tell you how Jim lived during his short but great career in a cheap hotel in Los Angeles. But not many know that before Morrison made it big he used to be homeless and slept at literally just any place you could possibly imagine.

 

9. HALLE BERRY

You may consider the first and only African American woman to win an academy award for best actress in a leading role to be synonymous with fame, influence and wealth. Nevertheless for Halley Berry life hasn’t always been easy. Two failed marriages, a few bad relationships and a suicide attempt might sound bad enough, but Halley spent some time being homeless at the beginning of her acting career as well. However, Halley confessed during an interview that this experience made her stronger and taught her to get through any situation.

 

8. DOCTOR PHIL

When Doctor Phil was 12 years old he was homeless and living in a car with his father who was interning as a phycologist. Phil later went on to obtaining his own bachelors , masters and PhD and he joined his fathers phycology practise in Texas. In the 1990’s Opera Winfrey invited him to appear oh her show , he later became a regular on her show and eventually launched his own syndicated advise programme . Today the author and TV personality is worth an estimated 280 million dollars.

 

7. SYLVESTER STALLONE

There us no doubt that the earnings from just one of the many rocky and rambo films would be enough for any of us everyday people to have a great life without having to worry about work for the rest of our lives but for Stallon’s delicate and expensive taste, one film could bever be enough. Against all odds Sylvester manages to become one of the commercially successful action star of all times and a pop icon of his era despite the fact that as a young man he had to spend about 3 weeks sleeping at the bus station . It was then that he came across an advertisement for an adult film that was paying about a 100 bucks a day, rest is history.

 

6. STEVE JOBS

What comes to mind first when you hear the name Steve jobs? I would probably guess…money! But, what if we told you that the former chairman, founder and CEO of apple was once broke and homeless . According to his own claims the father of the iPhone didn’t have a dorm room as a student, and had to sleep on the floor in friend’s room. He also returned coke bottles for the nickel deposits to buy food, he would walk 7 miles across town every sunday night to get one good meal at the Hare Krishna Temple.

 

5. JENNIFER LOPEZ

Jennifer Lopez moved out when she was 18. Lopez wanted to be a dancer but her mother wanted her to go to collage, and they couldn’t see eye to eye. she moved out and started sleeping on the sofa of her dance studio. A few months later she landed a job dancing in Europe and when she came back she booked in living colour for fly girl which proved to be her big break . Today the 45 years old singer, actress, producer and designer is worth an estimated 300 million dollars.

 

4. DREW CARRY

Carry grew up in cleveland. His father died when he was just 8 years old. He would sell plasma for 40 dollars and look fir spare change to buy boxed mac and cheese . The actor, comedian, gameshow host and philanthropist is now worth an estimated 165 million dollars.

According to Forbes, David Letterman us one of the richest and influential TV host and comedian in america and makes an estimated 50 million dollars each year from his talk show alone.But he had to start pretty hard, almost 40 years ago when the media guru landed in Los Angeles he used his 1973 chevy pickup as his home .

Besides from a movie based on his life staring will smith, he has 2 new York times best seller books under his belt . But before his career was shared with the world, Gardner was living on the streets with his young son. At the time he was trying to pursue a career in finance despite not having any experience or even a collage degree.Gardner’s childhood was marked by poverty, depression, alcoholism, sexual abuse and family illiteracy.

Mr. KFC is without a doubt one of the most recognisable and rich food business men in history . But before that he used to be filthy poor and homeless . His father died when he was only 5 and mother quickly remarried . When he was 10 he decided to leave home as he could not take hus step father’s constant beating and abuse . He remained homeless for a really long time and did many jobs in his life until he cane up with his own secret recipe and became the father of KFC. He didn’t even have his own house until he was 40 years old .
